Crude oil futures decline on weak global trend

Crude oil fell by 2.72 per cent in futures trading today on traders selling influenced by a weakening trend in the international markets.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude for delivery in June fell 2.72 per cent to Rs 2,543 a barrel in a trading volume of five lots.

The May and February contracts fell by 2.36 per cent each to Rs 2,442 and Rs 1,864 a barrel, respectively. The May contract attracted 17 lots, while February recorded a business volume of 6,924 lots.
Meanwhile, in the overseas market, crude oil dropped to $37.55 a barrel as deepening recession reduced demand for the fuel.
